Now more then ever, personalization has become expected not just a feature. The way we consume content whether it is surfing the web, watching television, renting or downloading movies, or listening to music has become a highly personalized experience. This should be no different when it comes to consuming mobile content.
Our mobile device is already highly personalized. We download wallpapers, ringtones, and we even buy different color exteriors for our phones. We use it for alarms, games, texting. The mobile device has become the most personal device we own. This is why the only way mobile content will be successful is if we can personalize what we want and when we want it. Although, we do currently personalize some basic features on our phone, we still do not have the ability to personalize the content we want to view and share.
Consumers already have a hard time wading through all the User Generated Content online to find their favorite stuff, come alone having to this though the mobile device. Our mobile device is not ideal for searching and browsing the web. There are too many solutions out there focused not on consumer’s “on-the-go” lifestyle but on technology and extending the web As-Is to mobile. Having the ability to personalize and set preferences for mobile content and providing mobile relevant content communication is going to change the way you use your mobile device. Even more important, will be the use of an application that makes these activities possible in a way that complements your fast paced digital lifestyle.
We at MobileLife believe that the mobile user experience is incomplete without personalization and that our unique, easy to use, user interface will empower the end user to set preferences for their favorite music, videos, news and other content and deliver it to your mobile device whenever and wherever. Not just any content, but what are your favorite friends like and how the content is tagged and rated. These capabilities will enhance the overall mobile experience, improve mobile data usage and allow you to create and transform how you use your mobile device. By having an application that empowers the end user, it will benefit both mobile content providers as well service providers – encouraging a healthy mobile eco-system.

Online social networks continue their phenomenal growth and dominate the web as a destination of choice. But, life continues to get in the way of our personal time in front of our PC. Additionally, Majority of these online experiences are passive. You upload something or update your profile and others log in and find it. Of course IM being an exception!
Consumers have spoken and chosen mobile phones as the most personal device - that’s why they are with us all the time. This makes mobile phones the perfect device to keep us connected all the time. Additionally, they also enhance the online passive experience with the immediacy of instant sharing.
This is all great, but the so-called “mobility solutions” in the market today are either constrained by features, network, and/or device limitations. Majority have followed a “bolt-on” text based approach that yields a painful, unappealing user experience.
During our research, young adults indicated a big dislike for all these fragmented mobile experiences. Chat and text through one application, exit and find the next to take a pic and share through another, etc…
These solution providers continue talking about User Experience, but they continue to approach the market with one-off applications and then as an after thought they apply a user experience!
Apple has proven that User Experience should be considered first in a product and then you apply technologies as an enabler. This approach puts the consumer interactions and connectivity desires above all other drivers and you end-up addressing their issues properly.
Our team not only concurs with Mr. Jobs, we consider User Experience and Design as the fundamental building block of our team’s DNA. There are those that say that social networking is a fad and it will burst like the dot-com bubble. I disagree!
The concept of Social network is as old as the human race; it has evolved and transformed, it is part of our life and will stay with us as long as we exist. Social Media describes the tools and platform that people use to share opinions, insights, experiences, and perspectives with each other. Online Social Networks are created by the convergence of the human anthropological need to build communities and technology components as the catalyst.
Trends come and go and we will witness other Facebooks and MySpaces that will become the hottest new digital communities. But, online social networking is here to stay. Then the question is; how will these enabling tools change?
In real life, socialization takes place based on common interests and ones’ professional colleagues, friends and family are not detached. Occasionally, there are natural overlaps across various networks as professional acquaintances can also be friends, school mates or family members. Current online models prohibit these cross network pollinations.
The next generation apps are those that allow the freedom of movement and interactions across online social networks. Just as significant will be mobile applications that extend online interactive functions on the go. In a way, both of advances create freedom of connectivity and movement, imitating how real life socialization takes place today.
Here at MobileLife, we’ve taken these trends and applied a mobile relevant user experience to take mobile communities beyond their current narrow focus.
